Side Events
In conjunction with the World Championship match, we have organised a range of side events for all levels of chess fans and players.
Singapore International Open 2024
November 29 - December 5
Featuring masters and players from all over the world, The Singapore International Open 2024 will be held at the Resorts World Sentosa Convention Centre, minutes from the FIDE World Championship match.
This major tournament will feature two categories:
Group A is designed with a rating floor of 1800. We will implement accelerated pairings to improve title norm chances for eligible players. The number of rounds with accelerated pairings shall be decided and announced upon publication of the final player list.
Group B will observe standard Swiss pairings with a rating ceiling of 1900.

National Age Group Championships 2024
November 24 - November 28
This event is organized by the Singapore Chess Federation and supported by Community Sports Network @ Tampines West. The Singapore National Age Group “NAG” is the most prestigious age group tournament organized by the Singapore Chess Federation. All players who meet the age eligibility with FIDE ID can participate - this tournament is not restricted to SGP players only and we welcome our friends from abroad to participate and enjoy the festivities.

Singapore International Open Blitz 2024
December 5
What's an international Open without an accompanying Blitz tournament? The SIO 2024 Blitz will be contested over 9 rounds after the last round on December 5, and it will feature a final 8 knockout format to determine the Champion.
Masterclasses and TalksIn addition to masterclasses and talks planned around the World Championship match, the Singapore Chess Federation is organising a 4-day Masters Programme for promising young players from around the region. By invitation only, the programme will be led by world class trainers GM Jacob Agaard, GM Boris Gelfand, GM Pavel Elianov and GM Thomas Luther.
Grandmaster Simultaneous ExhibitionsA series of GM simuls will be organised and VIP ticket holders will have priority invitations to play against the likes of former World Champion GM Viswanathan Anand, former World Championship challenger GM Boris Gelfand and former Women's World Champions GM Alexandra Kosteniuk and GM Hou Yifan.
